It's probably not just me, but my Jag-Stang decides to make a very noisy humming sound when I set both pixkup selectors to off. I can't understand why its so loud, I have a Squier Showmaster (wannabe Super-Strat thing) and I rewired the 5 way selector to a 3 way selector with the last two slots as a killswitch (couldn't think of a 5th use). I simply resoldered the wiresto positions 1, 2 and 3 instead of 1, 3 and 5 so the last two slots were "blank", and yet when I put that onto "off" mode, I got no hum at all. Not sure why my budget "starter" guitar sounds better than my Fender with stock wiring/pickups, but is there anything I can do to quieten down my Jag-Stang? Is it even normal, did the previous owner botch the wiring? One difference between the two guitars I have noticed is that my Showmaster has copper foil inside the cavities, but other than that, nothing.
