i'm with LIFE on this one.
i've played vintage jags that feel so solid and the bass jumps off them unplugged... and they just felt great.
and then, i've played a couple pre-CBS jags that were complete pieces of dolphin poo compared to my CIJ. the plates and pickguards are badly cut, they sound thin and buzzy and have terrible playability. and these aren't setup issues either. and they're over 2 grand.
the AV's are damn nice with much authenticity to the vintage ones and better quality control. and they're making so many right now that we'll all be able to find good jags for years to come no matter what happens to it within the fender corporation.
