Well it depends on what sound you like. I personally play Fender tube amps. Why? Because i dig there clean tone.
Right now I have a Fender Twin. It has an uber clean channel, a channel that is a TINY TINY bit overdriven so its more fo a sparklier marshal clean (better in my opinion) and then the distortion channel which is much thicker than one might expect since the Twin is known for being a super clean sounding amp.
You can get them used for pretty cheap (considering its an all tube amp) and should the idea pop into your head at some point, it can power a cabinet in addition to its 2x12. It has a switch on the back to cut it from 120 watts to 25 watts so you can scale it accordingly.
The reverb on it is very nice as well.
Used going rate is right about 750-800 USD. New they are about 1500-2000USD
There is not a venue i couldnt play with this amp both power and sound quality wise.
Thats just my 2 cents.
