no news from fender.
ok, popped the neck off, and it had under a sticker which was being used as a shim (and a retarted one at that, it covered the center of the neck...), there was green writing which appeared to read 4 lov. 1955 (i think thats NOV., part of the N being cut of where the skunk stripe goes) i have serious doubts about this being from 55', i bet thats when the piece of wood was stored, or i have retarted eyes...
the neck pocket had some numbers in blue writing, only the first few were legible. it was something like 9 or 10 digits, the first 4 being 5581 (im only SURE of the first 5 and last 1) and there was this weird hole in the middle of the neck, the tiny recess like american teles, but then a hole slightly off center in there.... the body did not have the little metal plate thingy in the neck pocket. weird.
The body is definitely a refin, there are some marks in the paint that only could have happened during drying. and some paint chips are backwards but still stuck to the guitar.
pics to follow. tommorow im gonna take it to a shop where the guys are pretty knowledgable about vintage fenders, and hopefully recent ones too. after that, me and my dad are gonna refinish it a dark red kind of thing, and put her on craigslist problably. ill put in the classifieds first.
thanks for the help freak, if i can find/figure out our camera, ill see if i can get a demo up.
