My 1995 is rather heavy, around the same weight as some Telecasters and Strats, and it is indeed a Basswood guitar if the dents, dings, and chipped paint are any indication. I've played a 1998 that was a featherweight compared to my 1995.
Your 2002 is toward the end of the basswood era. 2003-2006 was the second run and those should be heavier as they are Alder
