Worst pedal??

this topic may have been done before but..what's everyones worst effects pedal??

Mine's gotta be my Digitech Death Metal pedal - i got it free with some other pedal i bought off ebay, man what a pile of sh*t! seriously it has no gain control, the gain is contantly on 11, and the EQ controls all have stupid names (like SCREAM, PAIN and GUTS).

The actual distortion sounds awful!!! insainly trebly and sold-state!

Also special mention to my Boss Hyper Fuzz FZ-2.

2 switable fuzz sounds, both digital, harsh and unusable, and a built in gate that cuts any single notes off after 1 second. so zero sustain. Also forget about playing 2 notes at once, it sounds like a ring modulator.

But actually i found if you turn the bass control to full you can get this huge evil sound when you do powerchords, which is almost cool. so i probably will keep it. More fun to play with than my Zoom Ultra Fuzz anyway.

i would agree but...boss metal zone is pretty cool for lead stuff, even if you're not into metal. cos it adds tons of compression and you have lots of control over the mids.

I have a Danelectro Black Liquorice. It's meant to be a distortion pedal, but the gain is seriously about 48 or something, it sounds pretty awful. It's only real use is for some alternative solo, it may have a gain control but it's useless, it seems to only do "off" and "FULL POWER"...

I've never used a pedal that wasn't good for at least one kind of sound, to be honest. Crappy distortions have their place in the lo-fi indie rock world.

haha, i have a funny story bout that pedal.

my bandmate (who shall remain nameless) used the Digitech Grunge pedal extensively. In fact it was his first pedal, so i think he got it in his head that that's what disortion should *always* sound like.

so if we played a gig and borrowed an expensive amp from another band, would he use the marshall amp's sweet tube distortion? hell no.

It gets worse though ☹

Whenever we'd do a recording (demos or proper recording) he'd DI the Grunge pedal straight into his mac for his guitar parts! boy did that sound sh*tty!

even worse still, his hotrails equipped strat has a coil tap switch on the bridge hotrail, so he'd play it in single coil mode, just to make it more trebly and weak (according to him that's rhythym mode, and full humbucker is lead mode? lol)

here's the final twist...notice i'm talking in past tense? Yup he finally found a better disortion pedal and has retired his Digitech Grunge.

This new amazing piece of hardware he now bases his entire guitar sound around? A Zoom 505. 😲 lol!!!

damn he has something for ####ty distortion tones huh....my digitech was my first pedal but I had a behringer amp that had distortion on it so I rarely used it I used the Marshall 80's distortion which was soo awesome! I recommend Behringer amps for someone just starting out to there really nice solid-state to start with lots of options for cheap!

Worst pedal ever?in terms of what I paid and what i got, fuzz factory. Silly silly silly pedal. the best sound I ever got from it was just a big muff sound which I could also get from....my big muff.

Worst pedal ever in terms of just rubbishness that Ive owned would be the danelectro dan-o-wah which my mum bought me when I asked for a wah wah for christmas when I was 15. The reason for the purchase was it said 'dan' on it, and my names daniel. Get it???? Good times, good times....

Saying that the wah sound wasnt too bad, it was the crummy fuzz attached and the switch that didnt switch, ironically.

everything digital sux,,my fav effect is my sans amp classic,it has endless combinations of dist,and amp styles,i got it set to mesa going thru a fender twin,its the sickest fvkin dist i eva had,but theyre not cheap is all.

I can dislike any pedal that doesn't serve me well. My first Small Clone broke three days and it was brand new. The casing is crap too, so flimsy. Plus, it's the least versatile chorus ever.

For the record though, I like my new one, even though it's still flimsy and unversatile.

EH will be taken care of the flimsy part at least when they release the new micro series in MXR style boxes.
