Distortion Pedals!

ok i got my Danelectro FAB disortion - it's a bit crappy to be honest. Very boxy and artificial sounding, and you lose a ton of bass - it's kinda papery.

Sounds quite like a DS-1 though my Marshall vavlestate...but slightly nicer (it's less bright). Very harsh dirty distortion, think i'll keep it for a bit.

Think of a getting a Marshall Guv'Nor Plus now...anyone tried one??

hry thanks, didn't see those samples! now i'm really unsure - most of the Guv'Nor's sounds i can already get from my Marshall Valvestate. infact it's probably the same disrtion cirtcuit!

Bluesbreaker sounds more what im after..heavy overdrive rather than distortion. But then i hear the best heavy overdrive sound is from a RAT. aaah what to get ☹

ok, been playing more with my FAB Distortion, and actually i;'ve found some nice sweet spots.

As a full out maxed distortion unit is sounds a bit fizzy, but turn the distortion knob down low and the level up high (level seems to effect the presence) and it gives a sweet crunchy overdrive sound.

Still not amazing but it's usuable!

Also got the FAB Metal pedal today...this ones fun! No where near as good as my boss metalzone for metal (cos it doesn't add any compression), but it gives a really nice fuzzy distortion for powerchords!

However, these are cheap pedals..the FAB metal 9v inout jack doesnt work properly, argh!

i stopped buying Danelectro when I bought my Hash Browns Flanger......weakest flanging sound I've ever heard its there its just super faint.

Well, I personally use the new Electro Harmonix Metal Muff. Its amazing and VERY versitil... like... you can get extremely high gain like a randall type sound... to just chunky sounds.. plus.. at 99 bucks brand new.. with a top end boost.. cant be beat in my opinion 😁

DS-1s are very average, fake sounding distortion pedals. A RAT2 or Guvnor+ is a lot more "realistic" sounding, although the Guvnor is more of a heavy overdrive than a "distortion" pedal as such. Might wanna check out the Jackhammer instead if you're into more heavy stuff.

bluesbreakers are little things from heaven. im going to get one of those. i think the bluesbreaker is the best and if not try the turbo rat 😀

tried the Guv'Nor sounded like a solid states distortion channel so I bought a metal muff and now im very happy! METAL MUFF WITH TOP BOOST is the ####zel so versatile.

yeah. i love that pedal. its so oversized like all the other ehx pedals. can you get mellower overdrivey sounds from it or just metal distortion?

You can get a nice low overdrive from it if you tinker enough, I use it for 70's Classic Metal tones like Zeppelin and Sabbath and the boost with my Chorus ensemble for EVH style leads. It works wonders!

awesome. i dont think ill get it though. i need to save up to buy a jag and some other pedals, new amp as well.
