thats pretty much what i thought,i like stock for clean but i use dist around 90% of the time,i play what could be called sonic youth,nirvana,melvins put through a blender and what comes out is my sound,so i definately need single coils that can handle medium dist,i just started using the neck pup in my jag(stock cij pup) and i realy like it but it wont handle dist at all,i cant handle the 60 cyc sh!t,i got a dimarzio sup.dist.s in the bridge and using that with the strangle almost matches a stock single but not quite.hence another guitar,only this time i aint modifying it,just replace the pups for q/p's.
