Highway one

Does anyone here have Highway one Strat, I was thinking about savin up for that or a Cyclone.

Want like general-ness about sound and stuff.

If you've got the cash, go for the highway one, but thats opinion really. I couldn't afford it, so I opted for the mex strat instead (still a great guitar), but highway 1s are pretty fantastic.

highway 1's are great. the difference in finishes from normal strats really makes this guitar sound different from the thousands of other strats. plays nice, got a good neck on them. pretty good, especially for the money

they have upgrade the highway 1 guitars..both strat and tele have new colours..more of a late 60's and 70's style..the strat have 70's big headstock... (which i don't like so much)

fender also have change to thin nitro on the H1 finishes..that's good rather than the older finishes..the pickup also have been upgraded to a hot single coil..generally H1 are good US made fenders at a reasonable price..give it a try.. 😀

yeah, the nitro part caught my eye.

I mean there is just something great about the idea that the finish is more vunerable to age...

But I have had my eye on the Cyclone for a long time, and I already have in my possesion a 85(I guess) Strat MIJ...which I am guessing is Nitro due to the wear...

'85 MIJ strat?wow..the earliest model from fender japan when Fender US got no factory to build their guitar..cool... 😁 the finish is nitro?as far as I know the later MIJ and CIJ guitar is poly...

I never seen a cyclone in my local music store..I kind a like cyclone II with the Jag diamond control plate.. and jag pickups..

Wow that sounds too good..just guessing on teh date....cause my uncle got an Amp that I know was made in 85(Gorilla Solid State 50watts that has a sticker taht says 1985)...so I am checking the serial......

yea...I guess it is aroud that time I guessin Nitro cause the finish is really chip prone....like in a gigbag it'll chip a little but I moved to a case....its got this god aweful Floating Tremolo which is reason 1 I don't like it.

EDIT: the coolest part is how I got(not mine though) it...My Uncle wanted to play Guitar/Bass(explains the old bass) when he was younger...So he got this and quit shortly thereafter...It has been sitting in his garage until I mentioned that I wanted to learn guitar so he lent it to me...so I started learning on taht guitar...until I learned its value...then I stored it...

looks cool...except..yeah for the tremolo...i think that kind of tremolo unit never suited stratocaster...so does the floyd rose..with all the locking nut and ####..strat is made simple and easy...yet very unique...

why don't you change to a vintage tremolo unit..?would look great Sawao

Yeah, I have never been a fan of the whole tremolo/vibrato/whammy stuff.

Well that is a good idea...maybe take it to a tech...but my main concern about changin it

1) it is vintage

2) is the way the Tremolo unit works....it kinda made 2 big holes that only a ToM would be close enough to fit

3)ain't mine

4)it is vintage

if it was me, i woud go for the strat...never owned a US made fender... 😀

vintage fenders would be 50's or 60's american examples. a lot of people consider 70's american fenders vintage too now. it's a subjective term, it's meant to imply 'golden years' when the guitars were really good and are much more desirable to collectors, like '54-'62 for the strat and '57-'60 for the les paul.

so your guitar, while older and uncommon, isn't "vintage," and isn't worth insane money.

Isnt Vintage pre-1980 its like a car if its at least 20 years old its worth more if its in good condition either way when its 50 years old its gonna be worth alot just cause its way old!

i can remember a time when people considered 70's fender gear the next best thing to vintage. it wasn't expensive, but it was still old and worn and gave a similar feeling to the 60's stuff.

calling everything pre-1980 vintage would be strange.

well thats what Vintage is according to ebay ha. Think of a time in the future when pre-2000 will be vintage all the gear gear now ill the be the gear of the golden age when where all old geezers hahaha.

all I know is that the guitar is older than me and in great condition, so yeah....

now I shall declar it simply as "old". case closed
