Ok, I'm at the point of putting a humbucker (SD JB SH-4) in my Mustang.

Any tips ?

Does the hole needs to be repainted with shielding paint?

Try to get one of those 69 reissues they made in the early nineities and do the same mods as kurt and you should get the exact sound cause basically thats what he had

is it done by yourself (and if so, with wich tools)

I just ordered a humbucker routing template (need it for the body anyway)

Stew Mac sells templates for the body routing and the pickguard routing.

Those 65 RI tuners are F keys, Guitarparts resource sell them too.

To route a body for a humbucker you only need a cheap router and some bits, its easy as pie. Just use the templates and set the correct depth and you cant #### it up!

Hi, I just ordered that humbucker template.

(friend of mine owns a company that makes stairs so he can route it for me)

But how does the pickguard gets cut? Does it also gets routed?

Or are other tools used?

You need a separate template for that too.

Darn..., I was thinking the same last night...

So have to order the pickguard one too and pay double shipping.
