Daisy Chain

Hey,

A stupid question here. How do you power all of your pedals? Do you use a daisy chain? If so, does the one power supply work for all of your pedals? or are they all different voltages etc. are the jack sizes all the same too?

OK, basically their are two ways to power all your pedals:

1. get a boss line selector or tuner, plug a boss power supply into it then use special leads which literally daisy chain each effect to the next: Im not sure if other manufacturers do pedals like this but a boss tuner is always handy anyway. I think you can power 5 or so pedals off that.

2. Get a power brick (look up 'power bank' on ebay) which is just an ac-dc 9v transformer with 5 jacks and costs around

i've had an SKB powered pedalboard for years, during which time i gradually gravitated towards all 9v pedals. it powers up to 6, and came with a few different leads.

i have a male-to-male lead now for the RAT which worked perfectly, it was good of SKB to be so thoughtful... my tremolo, phaser and chorus all take the standard lead supplied. it had a 9v clip lead too, so originally i'd drilled a small hole in the side of my vox wah and had it hooked up permanently, but i got a bad noise so i started using a battery on it. so as long as i remember to unplug my guitar from the vox after playing, everything runs forever maintenence-free.

didnt realise the boss tuner and line-selector could be used like that!

the latter pedal would be especially useful for me (so i could switch between clean and distorted sound without tap-dancing).

looking at the line selector manual (http://lib.roland.co.jp/manual/en/dl_06 ... LS-2_e.pdf), it says it supports a max load of 200mA.

so i guess now im gonna have to work out the power rating of all of my pedals..!
