i wanna start playin a bass, but i dont know witch one to buy, so what do guys think i should get? is squier vintage modified jazz bass worth buyin?

Meh, sure. I'd of gone for amn Alder squire, because then you could mod the hell out of it and make it really nice, but I've enver had a maple guitar before.

Maples a fine wood, but Swuire isn't a very good company. I Would go wit han Yamaha or Ibeanez if I were you.

if its just something to start learning on, squires are great. but if you already no how to play the bass, go for something like Zekk said - yamaha or ibanez, because they will be aimed at people who arent beginners

Actually both Yamahah and Ibeanez make quite good starter bass's and starter packs. And they usually can last you a while with a bit of modding.

then i would suggest gettin the squire. or, alternatively, just go down to your local store, and play the basses they have their in your price range

I recommend the Squire Bronco Bass. It's a really good bass for the money, and it's short scale makes it easy for beginners/guitarists.

Yeah, I checked that out the other day, its actually a nice beginner bass, though with only one Pickup its limited In my opinion.

I played the squier modified jazz bass, damn nice bass. I've been playing bass for about 8 years, and that guitar definately beats a standard fender, and played side by side through the same amp against and american jazz, the sound wasn't far off. really, a great bass

With a bass, multiple pickups isn't really that important. The P-Bass only has one, and it's extremely versatile, and the Jazz bass has two pickups, but usually both pickups are engaged at the same time. The pickup in the Bronco is pretty good too.

I bought my lil cousin a squire P-bass I think it was it sounds really good to me,he likes it its a great place to start learning at.

i wouldn't like that modified jazz bass. basses are already thuddy enough, without being frettless as well.

i'd go for the squier standard jazz bass
