P90 in my Jaguar

I've never been totally happy with my Jaguar sound, until now.

It now has a Bareknuckle BKP92 in the neck. And my god does it sound good! They're not a cheap make, but they are simply brilliant.

Guitar looks a bit unbalanced, but I think a white pickup ring for the humbucker will sort that out.

The third bottom switch is now also a coil tap for the humbucker 😀

Man, that really does sound awesome. It looks pretty neat too, I reckon a white pickup ring would compliment it well, you're right. You've got yourself a nice Jazzmastuar there. 😁

P-90'S ARE THE BEST SOUNDING PICKUPS EVER MADE! in my opinion they are incredibly clear and crisp on clean and distorted! I have them in my Townshend SG the tone is amazing! So clear and high just marvelous! In your Jag it adds a moded jazzmaster look to me,but the white ring will be nice also sounds really good!

can I pick your brains about your humbucker? I've just ordered a new seymour D stagmag for the bridge and was planning on tapping with the low-cut switch the same way you have.

Just wondered whether you find there's a big difference in output when you switch from bucker to single coil? And the is the wiring pretty straightforward? I looked at a couple of diagrams and thought it shouldn't be too much trouble, but I could be wrong!

Sounds good to me. What is a coil tap?

its a switch, it turns on only half of the coil in a pickup, so if you have a switch on a humbucker it turns the humbucker in a single coil. pretty cool eh?

The output is definitely lower when the humbucker is split. But it's nice to have the versatility. And it sounds good alongside the neck pup.

I had the split done for me - so can't really tell you about the wiring but it took about 5 mins for the guitar tech to do it so I reckon it's pretty simple!

I don't know if it's still in print but 'Guitar Electronics for Musicians' by Donald Brosnac is a superb book to delve into if you're handy with a soldering iron. It goes into all the wiring configurations for pickups and has a library of schematics in the back, including wiring diagrams of the Jag and Jazz. It assumes no prior knowledge and is easy to follow.

Guitar electronics is child's play and mods don't take long to do. I bought the above publication about 20 years ago and it's saved me a fortune over the years. DIY rules!! 😆
