Hmm...What should I get?

I am able to get a new guitar this Christmas but I can't decide what I want, and I'm thinking some of you lads can help me...If so it would be greatly appreciated...

Well I have a $1000 budget, I'm left handed and I'm into alternative/experimental/indie music, I love the sound of single coils, and I dont want something thats too thin, I want something with a Hole/Live Through This clean sound and I want a guitar that is also capable of producing some neat distorted sounds(Doog, Hole, Mudhoney, Nirvana, ect).

I do like Jazzmasters and I've been checking one out lately, I'm thinking of picking up that one...

Anyone have any recomendations?

humbuckers but, filtertrons much more like a single coil. i hate humbuckers and filtertrons are my favorite pickups

Lolz..

A decent tube amp will make a far bigger difference. $1000 worth of guitar is still gonna sound lousy through a little solidstate combo.

I'd recommend buying a mid priced guitar and small tube combo with the $1000.

Hmm Thats true, I do use my friends Fender Bassman head quite a bit but it needs new tubes so I'm kindof screwed...Having to use the Roland Cube 30 for a while...

Nah, I think I will get a Fender...

Once in a while I use my friend's Fender Bassman head, It's quite amazing, but I'm moving on to my own gear now, Im looking at getting myself a Bandmaster or a Tremolux head, and a 2x12 cab to go with it...

I know a guy who will sell me his 1966 Bandmaster head for a few hundred bucks

Yes I do like the Jazz, but I have been looking around at a bunch of guitars.

I've been checking out Eastwood guitars lately, they make some nice models and they are affordable and Canadian and I'm looking at buying a Univox 50w tube head, since I can find one for like $200 on eBay...

The guitar store in town has a really nice Jagmaster, It's a Vista series model with Seymour Duncan pickups, not sure what models though.

It costs around $450, so I will probably get that and still have some money left over to buy something else, probably a 2x12 cab for the Univox head...

Or a short-scale fan? I would have said Mustang or Jag though if you're after single coils, seeing as the JS has a bucker in the bridge.

For the budget and considering you're into Indie, the first thing I thought of was a Reissue Thinline Telecaster. They've got the Seth Lover Fender Humbuckers with 3/3 split polepieces that a lot of indie bands use in either some variation of a Thinline Tele, Deluxe or 70's Starcasters.

Thats the only one I could find, though, so I bet they're a bit rare. That's a thinline and I couldn't find a left deluxe.

This would be a bit over you're budget all in all though.

if you can find it I wholeheartedly also recomend the '72 reissue thinline Tele, it's what I use and it's fu*king awesome!
