A fender champ?

My local store has an old fender champ. There selling it for about 250 USD. I couldn't try it in the store because the tubes where faulty. There gonna fix it and call me. I have a big 350 watt peavy solid state I really don't need that I got for 300 USd and was planning on selling to the store to help cover the cost. Is this worth it? Anyone here own a champ? I noticed it has no distortion/OD settings. Would I need a pedal?

I really don't need to much gain. The heaviest I play is a wee bit of sabbath here and there. I just want something I can go from Punk, to Grunge, to Blues, to Beetles with.

Store emailed me about it. Its not ready but they have some info on it. Its a 1960's-70's silverface. Two tubes, a preamp and an output. Possibly needs some Capasitors and such worked on and/or replaced. Someone did change the plug to a three prong so it could ground properly.

if it was me i would get it.it would make a cool little practice amp that would certainly sound better than your solid state peavey.crank it up and you will have natural amp distortion and with a couple choice pedals you could cover alot of sounds.keep in mind that this amp is only 6watts so dont expect super loud.

As for volume, Im ot planning on giging with it. Our lead guitarist has a spare marshall tube head and cab I use at gigs. I want this as a bedroom amp. my peavey is a 350watter

that amp would make the perfect bedroom player.just make sure it doesnt need alot of work.is the speaker original?got any pics?

then theres not really a reason not to, silver face, tube, and since your not giggin your only problem would be practices

My bands second guitarist has a full stack 500 watt marshall all tube he had just lying around that I use. (He usually uses his fender tube stack). All of its stock, except for the plug and now the tubes. The store is going to make sure it works before they let anone buy it.

Dude, you must have a problem with your zero key- Marshall have never made a 500w tube guitar amp, and Peavey have never made a 350w guitar amp.

Generally, only bass amps ever really get that high (aside from a few stupid guitar amps like the Marshall Mode 4 and that new Crate thing), because more power is needed to create bass frequencies.

Yeah, I just cheaked with thw guy at practice today, its something like a hundred. Im an Idiot. And the peaver is something around 130 watts. My numbers where way off, sorry.

I own a champ. I use it with my Jazzmaster. Great amp. If you turn it to 10 and drive the input with a booster/OD pedal you're talking about one loud little bugger! Not only that, but the drive sound is sweet.

It won't overdrive otherwise though, a pretty clean amp.
