aging pickups

hey i think this has been answered inside several posts (not that i could find it by searching for it though)

but i was wondering how i could get the pickups to have that aged look to it?

i found the one about the pickguard.. but would that be the same?

they're not even made of the same materials..

can you buy pre-aged pickup covers for CIJ Jaguars?!

i hope i don't get flamed for this.. i was just wondering..

i wanted to get black pup covers but after playing around with a massive pic of my Jaguar

on Photoshop.. i changed it to black pups.. it looked quite.. crappy.

i think it's because the metal parts inside don't really stand out..

i dunno. but yeah. aged picksups - how do i go about getting them to that vintage off-yellow?! 🙄

Soak them in vinegar then bake at gas mark 4 overnight.

leave them on the window sill, in the sun, for a year. then flame heat with a lighter or other flaming device

Lightly sand with fine sand paper and soak them in strong coffee. I hear that works a treat.

I prefer to eat the pickup covers, let them digest for a day or two and then crap them out. Everyone has thier own trick to aging pickup covers though. To each his own. 😆

If you do the tea or coffee methods, get some furniture wax and rub a light coat over the cover to seal the tint in. Make sure to rub that out though, as you don't want gobby wax all over the plave.

Rit dye works well too, but you have to do a little research on color. Rit is a brand name for fabric and textile dye here in the US. I don't knoo an Aussie equivalent....

Tried the hot coffee method, and green tea method. Both work equally, but it will depend on the type of plastic the covers are made of. Sometimes they are worse than others, and won't age.
