Best Pedal For Crunchy OD

Hey ive been lookin for the best pedal for crunchy vintage overdrived sounds like 70's Marshall overdrive,Ive been using a Big Muff for my distorted tones and Ive been switching it on and off between my DS-2 and OS-2 and Tubescreamer,alot of people say the tubescreamers the best but The OD on it is to light for what I want. Soo anyone know a good overdrive pedal?

I like the Rat, and Tube screamer myself.

The RAT2 is really Marshall-y in tone, and with a very quick and easy mod, you can tame some of the gain and buzz and make it more "classic" sounding.

i've got an MXR distortion + now. it's great. goes from crunch (i think), then turn the dial up and it goes saturated right up to the point of #### !

Good choice, yet another pedal i regret selling. The bypassed signal is a bit crappy on MXR pedals though....like, who gives a ####? 😛

i only got it today, and haven't had a chance to test it out at any considerable volume yet. but initial impressions of the bypass seemed ok to me. i'd also heard it was noisy. but that seems ok too

There are different models of it, apparently. The one i had when you switched the pedal off at loud volumes you could faintly hear some clipping in the signal. Nowt significant especially to us noise merchants....i rarely play clean anywayz. 😁

you're right, Fran. it takes a bit of the treble out. but since my amp and the jag is quite bright anyway, i could argue it sounds better. so i'm pretty happy.

anyway, sorry to hijack your thread bandit. and have fun with your metal muff
