No, it's the Fender Bass VI. Basically a half Strat, half Jaguar tuned EADGBE an octave down from a normal guitar using thicker strings.

It was actually released a year before the Jaguar. The image shown above is the custom shop reissue that Fender are currently doing still.

spacing looks like that of a standard guitar? though Ive never seen a 6 string bass.

yeah they're overall bigger but the string spacing is still more lead-guitarish.

jack bruce played his with his fingers, always found that kind of impressive after trying a baritone jag. i think it was his first bass guitar, he'd only used a double bass professionally prior to that. he moved on to a gibson eb3 (sg bass)

I'm building a 6 string bass at the moment, but they're generally tuned BEADGB, I can't personally see the advantage of EADGBE on a bass, it'll just take you needlessly higher, whereas BEADGB will take you lower and higher (which is was I want it for).

That neck does look crazily thin, as do the strings, anyone know what the string thicknesses are on them?

Totally digging the beatles minis! Anyone ever seen pics of Ringo Starr's mini? He had it modified as a hatchback with no back seats so he could easily get his drumkit in and out of it!
