this may be a silly question, but in reference to the jaguar hh models available at guitarjapan.com, there is the JGS-83 and JGS-86.

are their any notable differences between the two apart from the obvious black/white pickguards?

the 86 appears to cos $24 more than the 83 yet their specs are identical, not that that's a problem at all, i'm just curious.

the 83 and 86 are in reference to recommended retail price. ie, 83,000 yen. seems you pay 3000 yen extra for a different pickguard. the guitars are otherwise the same

But in all honesty, unlessyour really skimpy on cash or don't have much 3000 Yen is almost nothing. Something like 25 USD. If you plan on getting on, get the one you think looks best.

although, having just looked at guitarjapan, the colour of the actual guitar is different as well. a "gun metalic blue" and a redburst

Actually, that site has the model numbers incorrect. The JGS-83 is actually JGS-75 and the JGS-86 is actually JGS-78.

JGS-75's come in 4 or 5 different colours and have shiny chrome hardware.

JGS-78's come in 2 colours and have tarnished nickel hardware (it all looks black or brown.)

The electronics are all the same.

they did raise the price of all japanese fender lately, though. possibly in that case, from 75,000Y to 83,000Y
