1965 Mustang knobs

The tone knob on my 65 mustang has broken, it has a code on the bottom which is S647 R the same as the volume knob.

I am looking for a replacement, does anyone know if these codes mean anything ?

They are different to a pair of 67 knobs I have which are S-647 C & S-647 W, the codes on the 65's have no dash between the letters & numbers. I want to keep the thing as original as I can, the knob just fell apart.

you might be very hard pressed to tell the difference between those knobs and the ones on american reissue jags, jazzies and jazzbases

I have other mustangs from 69 & 72 & knobs from a 67 they are virtually the same apart from they all have different codes.

I wanted to know if they are relevant to the year ?

yeah, not too sure what the codes mean. but i had a '65 mustang and a '62 jag. the knobs were the same. but i think the codes were different on those too. i can't see them referring to a date. because there's only a difference in the last letter on the codes you've posted. i just wish i'd kept the pictures i'd taken of my codes. prolly got wiped out on a hard drive wipe.

do you want to make sure they are the correct code for that year or something?

Yes, that was the idea, to replace the broken one with one from the same year.
