Not sure if this should be in this forum, but it is a Jaguar derivative so here goes.

Didn't find much when I did a search so thought I'd start this post. I was wondering if anyone has one of the new Jagmasters:

If so, is the trem a stock Strat unit and what's it like quality wise? If it's duff, could a standard trem be slotted in there, or is it custom? Same question goes for the pickups, are they stock humbuckers (in terms of size).

Things in this guitar's favour are the short-scale neck (24") and the 9.5 inch fingerboard radius (no choking of strings when bending)...also, it's dirt cheap (I'd rather pimp one of these than my vintage Jazzmaster)!

Thanks, makes sense about the standard humbuckers as the nut width is slightly larger than most Fenders.

I'd love to stick a couple of Tele thinline humbuckers in there as they actually have some semblance of the Fender sound, despite being buckers, but I can't find any replacements online. Anyone? Failing that, a couple of jazzmaster PUs would be sweet.

Most music shops that deal with Fender can get you those Tele pups. They usually just have to be ordered. I have a Re-Issue Fender Custom Tele with one of those hums in the neck and it sounds stellar. Good luck!

I was actually looking at one of the more recent models the other day.....took it for a spin, forgot who good they were.......

The (non-vista) Jag-Master though, is really nothing more than a Jazzmaster Chassis with a Strat Trem and basic twin Humbucker electronics.

I had a few probs keeping it in tune using the trem, mostly because the strings were new and had not stretched out yet, it was a little more "tamed" after I played it for about 20 minutes.

The sound overall is more of a vintage deal, the humbuckers must be around 8.4K ohms or so, it's got a bit of the Van-Haleney mid-power humbucker gain thing going on (midrangey). it's a pretty good all around guitar, though the tuners feel a little "chintzy" if I rememebr right.
