Replace Foam/Rubber on Jaguar Mute

I just purchased a 1965 Jaguar. ( had to sell 3 guitars and an amp). The mute is still installed but the rubber strip is dry rotted.

Any idea where to get the strip for the mute.

I would rather a fender part, I know they have the mutes on the new american reissues.

i don't think you can get the ones that fender put on the american reissue jaguars. the ones that guitarpartsresource sell are actually just something for an AV jazz bass. it isn't dense enough, and isn't cut to the right size. needs to be 1/4" high and 3/8" wide. or at least, it wasn't when i bought it. maybe they've cut it to the right size now, because it lists the dimensions i've just stated on thier page now. to be honest, the nearest stuff to the foam on american reissue jaguar mutes is the stuff beneath mouse mats

Just noticed this thread. Will this fit on an MIJ Jag? Will it require drilling? (Something I'm not keen on doing..)
