  2. my wife and i split up in australia, so i went to canada and saved $ for 3 months. not sure what i wanna do with myself now that i`m a free man, so i came to a cheap country to sit on my butt and think about what i can do with my life. good cheap living here! i have a huge apartment for 300$ a month, the food is awesome here, girls are very cute. i left all my music gear in oz. who knows if i`ll get it back. ... anyways, i got the guitar today, it`s a pretty decent copy! very playable, light body, nice neck. i have no amp, so i cant say much about the pickups. if they suck, i can throw in something else. but i`m sure this is MIJ and should be fine. the pickups are a little wider than strat pickups. the switches are just on/off...no phase the tuners are quite oldskool, but have been holding up so far. pix soon
  3. i can always put new tuners on it. might change the pickups, or put in a 3rd pickups to get more strat tones. i hope the switches go out of phase too. i havent had a guitar since May this year, and wanted something cheap, but more charactor than your average strat copy. i`m sure i found it.
  4. http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.pe/MPE-12772128-guitarra-electrica-japonesa-tomson-_JM I`m in Lima, Peru right now and scored this off libremercado 330 soles is about 120$ can`t find musch info on this, it`s made by Tompson in the 1980s MIJ and the tunders aren`t so great. any other info you guys have would be awesome. i`ll post more pics when I get it
  5. get rid of the frontman. I've had 2 that both totally sucked, and broke down on me. pity they have a good clean tone. grab a orange crush or blackheart with thhat kind of money. check out some delays and fuzz boxes the ds1 actually has a good buffer inside, so keep it.
  6. most of my pedals are up now adding more soon wireless at the library not very dependable
  7. thanks anytime i post the link it screws up ya just search burntumbers putting a bunch of pedals on there tomorrow
  8. Please help me fund my mid-life crisis http://shop.ebay.com/burntumbers/m.h...&_trksid=p3686 all my gear is going up for sale. everything is in Australia, I'm in Canada right now, so I can't take new photos of items. My ex is good enough to ship items for me when they sell. Currently all my guitars and my tube amp are posted. All my pedals will be there soon. any questions please email burnt_umber@hotmail.com
  9. ahhh we all go through our share of crap gear when we're young. so many memories of Samick strats
  11. http://cachepe.samedaymusic.com/media/q ... 697161.jpg you might might to invest in that instead
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjtBeqOxFKg this is a crappy video of the jetking I had (first model) I ended up hating the thing and traded it for a bunch of pedals if you like heavy bodies, wider thin necks, go for it, but just change the pickups cuz they SUCK
  13. homeboy has a lot of pedals, sure but he probably hasn't been laid since the 1970s
  14. so far answers have been kinda boutique pedals I don't think you can go wrong with a simple MXR Dist+ they sound really ballsy, fat sound also, the Dano Fab Tone has been getting love just cuz Mogwai and Mono use it. I have one, not my fave, but if you're looking for a real treble-ish pedal, this is it, and $40 max my fave dirt is the Visual Sound Jekyll&Hyde it's really 2 in 1. one side is like a tube screamer, the other is closer to the Dist+, but not as fat
  15. I had the synth wah for a few yr, some cool noises, but not really musical. I'd like to get the french toast, but they're only worth about $30 max I'd keep you delay and just buy his french toast. skip the synth wah unless you're really into noise, soundsculpture kinda shiz
  16. you're right, the Jetking was inspired by the Rhythm Maker series, I've seen a few photos of Hendrix with one I sold my JTK-1, those are cheaply made in Indonesia with crappy pickups, heaby bodies, really wide necks. I played a JTK-3 and it's pretty different. there's a hollybody version I wouldn't mind trying but I can't find it anywhere
  17. how do you feel about the neck?? I found it too wide and thin for my hands Ibanez has some quality gear when you get past their speedmachine guitars the 1980s DDL delays are my fave, and I have a 1976 Phasertone that's awesome they're not so great at making amps though
  18. if you're just after pickguards, Warmoth might be the better route pickups...a lot are made in China. heard good things about the dream/mean90s, the texas special-ish style but the mini humbuckers and humbuckers, I've heard complaints about. after my experience and hearing about others I'm staying clear from GFS now.
  19. I recently sold mine. cheap...is a good word for it. basswood body, crappy plastic tuners. made in Indonesia the pickups are super58s, very bright sounding. they can be coil tapped. the body is very heavy, the neck is thin but wide...too wide for my taste. the action is high, good for slide players. ...finger pickers will have a harder time. if you are really into these specks, just swap the pickups. don't pay more than $200 usd for it.
  20. I can't recommend their pickguards, I emailed them before buying one to see if it would fit, they said it'd be no problem. $70 later, the pickguard is still sitting around collecting dust becuz it doesn't fit. if you're after a cheap guitar, check out some at Rondo music website. or craigslist for old Hondo II guitars.
