  1. You need a 25.5 neck for that body. Only way to change it to work with a short scale neck is to move the bridge, not the tremolo. If you drilled your own bridge it could work, but using a 25.5 neck would likely be easier unless you are comfortable with the woodworking.
  2. The amp not clearing the handle on the cabinet was solved by BEER! Here are the feet as they are now. IMG_3401 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr Notice the red rubber? 3. Cabinet came! It is awesome! (Aside from the metal corners that came black instead of chrome. I am sure Marty will send me some to swap.) Sounds great too. Once kiddos aren't napping, I will do a demo. VERY nice and warm. Tremolo is nice as well. I have wash cloths between the head and cabinet because the handle on the cab is taller than the head's feet. I will need to find a better way to lift the head up a little. Coasters or something? 5. Figured out that I cannot correct the phase issue because of the individual on off switches. (Can't reverse the hot and lead without making the poles hot in the process.) Not too big of a deal. Just another sound option anyways.
  6. No mods needed on the mastery. Mine is sitting in stock thimbles. http://www.masterybridge.com/offset-bridge/ Below is a link for the tremolo arm bushing. http://angela.com/jazzmasterjaguarvibratoarmmountingreceptacle.aspx
  7. Done! (Well kind of. Middle position humbuckers are out of phase, so when I change strings next, I will swap wires.) 8. The finish cracks are called checking. It happens as wood expands and contracts in different heat and humidity. On an electric guitar, it won't change the sound since sound is mostly influenced by the pickups, neck, nut, bridge, tremolo, and pots. It is a cosmetic thing. Lots of people try to mimic checking with razorblades or by using canned air, etc. I wouldn't worry about it sound wise. It is just cosmetic and it happens with guitars that age or have been artificially aged. No modifications are required. Make sure you buy the right one. (They make them for USA guitars and Japanese one

  11. Probably not how it was made by Fender. Paint cracks happen from temperature and humidity change over time. Closet Classic nornally means the guitar will look like an old guitar that sat in a closet for most its life. It shouldn't change the set up. You likely need to check your neck relief and adjust the truss rod to help with the buzz. Your frets could also need leveling if you end up having and high ones that are fretting out. Make sure you are pushing the arm in all the way. If it is loose, on the underside of the tremolo plate you will see little teeth tht hold the arm in place. The
  12. Was wanting to try to start learning Cherub Rock after hearing some fuzz demos this week. Made me think it might be cool to use my new cheap tele and my Sean Ryan Custom (h8mtv) Joker Muff to do a demo. It is a Mayo style muff with a cool custom etched top. Sounds great!
  13. I was going to, but with new strings on, they actually sound pretty good. It is odd for such a cheap guitar to be nice like this. Totally unexpected.
  14. Thanks! I got the new tuners on. Pretty easy. Just swapped out. New strings are on. The problem I was having with intonation went away with the new strings and the issue with the neck pickup sounding like crap also went away. Strange how much new strings can do for sound. Some more pictures. IMG_3251 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr IMG_3254 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr IMG_3257 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr
  15. Been awhile. It has been at Velvatone getting cleaned up and caps worked on. I got these pictures yesterday. Pretty awesome. Before Showman Before by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr After Cleaning Showman After by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr
  16. Got the switches all wired up. Everything tests as a-ok. Once the pickup screws and springs arrive, I will add pickups and wire those in. That should be the last stuff I need to finish it up. 17. Awesome find at my local pawnshop. Affinity Squier Telecaster. It has been used for certain, but has a great vibe to it. I really like the white on white look. Pickups sound pretty ok. Bridge is jangley. Neck is kind of meh. The previous owner (I am guessing) felt the need to add a Gibson style jack plate. Works fine. Tuners are ok. Pretty happy with it considering it was only $39.00. 19. Jack, roller trees, and strap locks came in. Just need the pickup screws. IMG_3196 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr IMG_3197 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr IMG_3198 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr
  20. I got switches mounted and pots and knobs on. I still need the pickup mounting screws and springs as well as the input jack before I can go a lot further. I will do wiring later this week. So far it looks great! Cooterfinger got the switches in the perfect spot. Fits GREAT. (Went with black switches because white ones were way expensive...) 23. I took a small file and did that last night. Bid difference and not too hard to do either. Just have to be careful.
