  1. also, sorry for kinda hijacking your thread gilmourish.
  2. so it'd be like cupping the neck between your thumb and index finger, to the point where you could mute the e string with your thumb if you wanted? as apposed to the thumb resting on the back of the neck, where a skunk stripe would run? and because I saw these on the foo fighters page on facebook a little while back: Kurt's Small clone: http://yfrog.com/bdwzrjj Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic recently: http://yfrog.com/0p9dmoj (please don't yell at me for it, I thought someone might find them interesting... I know the regulars hate Teh Kurtz)
  3. My brother's ex-father-in-law has a bunch of vintage Kustom stuff, it all sounds brilliant. I love the sound they make, I'm going to try and buy an amp and cab from him sometime.
  4. I've got an ashdown something or the other bass amp... I like it, I know it's not a fallen angel, but it gets the job done. I can run my bass or guitar through it, so I'm happy.
  5. I've got a question... I looked at that link and it says that the hard V neck is a "thumbs over" neck, what does that mean? I've been playing guitar for a few years now and I've never heard that term used before. and sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge, I'll try to keep the stupid questions to a minimum.
  6. personally I like my DS-1, I can get a pretty good range out of it. I had a B.C. Rich humbucker in the bridge of my Squier Bullet and I could go from: Nirvana to System of a Down; QOTSA to Sum 41; Foo Fighters to Megadeth. But I've recently switched to the DiMarzio Super Distortion, which with the DS-1 sounds kinda rough... does anyone have a suggestion on a good distortion pedal to go with the super distortion?
  7. I don't think that'll happen. eBay is retarded and all of the necks are like $250+, one guy was selling a pre-CBS neck for $999.99 which I think is a little steep. and part of the reason I'm getting the neck from warmoth is so I can get the neck profile of an Ibanez Iceman, while it looks like a fender neck/guitar. If a neck is gonna cost me more than like $150 I'm not going to go for it. I already have to do this one piece at a time due to a lack of funds. Looks like the next piece I get will be the neck and tremolo.
  8. well, I know that... or I could measure 24" from the nut on the neck. the problem is I don't have the neck yet, and I don't have the $400 to get it from warmoth. and I thought I'd try to get ahead a little and find where the bridge goes so I could then find the position of where the pickups go. because it's going to be a 24" scale guitar and I've never dealt with any before and don't have a neck for one I was hoping to get most of the guitar done before ordering the neck, which is a really dumb idea... I will admit that.
  9. I've got everything I've ever had, which is: 2001 Squier Bullet Hardtail bridge, Baltic Blue with a black/white/black pickguard Drive Wildfire bass (don't know what year, there are no marking or serial #) black Peavey Millennium AC BXP bass, maroon with a black headstock Behringer strat knock-off, black with white guard. the neck is warped and it needs some TLC Lotus acoustic, made in Korea... kind of has a yellow to cherry red sunburst, belonged to my like great grandfather or something. The neck is warped and the action is really high, it's a really pretty guitar. and a guitar I'm buil
  10. http://s1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd453/waffleiron64/?action=view&current=0722101216.jpg that's a picture of the guitar body right after it was cut out, I've sanded it down some and I've worked on the body contours a little. it's a work in progress
  11. Hi! I'm currently in the process of building myself a custom guitar from scratch and I need a little help with it. I'm making my own cross between the Jaguar and Mustang guitars, and I need to know the measurement from the bottom of the neck to the middle of the bridge on a 24" scale jag or mustang. I'm hopefully going to get the neck pocket routed in a couple of days, so then I'll be able to place the bridge and pickup cavities. And in case it makes any difference I'm getting the neck custom made from Warmoth and I have a Gotoh Tune-o-matic bridge from Stew-Mac, also when I get the money fo
