  1. of course its tacky! thats why everyone needs one!
  2. and a prototype could make for an interesting mustang though...... *ding* maybe someday.
  3. £300? wow thats pretty good. I may do something similar soon then. I'll see how yours works first though I think its gonna look AWESOME by the time you're done. and the domestic japanese market have OLB (lighter shade of LPB), they have standard LPB (darker) and OTM(ocean metallic turquoise) which is lighter than the others. I believe OLB and OTM are just for the domestic japanese market and arent availabe anywhere else unless you get them off of ebay or somewhere. I was considering a japanese OLB with the headstock, but I hated the fact the logo wasnt cream/white. nothings ever perfect though right?
  4. haha I say Hendrix, you say Kurt, s'all the same then again, maybe I should say Kurt since the sites called JagStang and all.... I'm pretty much the same right now, no band, just keep my stuff for myself although I really would like to try and make a career out of music, and I've got some pretty damn good achievements so far... maybe I should make a thread somewhere and see what kind of things are available and how to get into them. Nothing to lose right?
  5. oh I knew about those have you looked at the link? If I had the money I'd get it haha. at least itd be unique
  6. The japanese ones with the headstocks your on about are pretty off the colour of kurt's since its the japanese version/interpretation of LPB, not US LPB. Looks like you got the US shade (dark) which should age the same. The reason kurts looks different shades in different lights is cause of the laquer and the aging. Grant from Dundee, Scotland, I think you've answered my question on another thread. This is EXACTLY what I was thinking of doing, white decal and all! haha How much has it cost you so far? I may buy parts soon, that is if my saving for a vintage one doesnt get in the way (although Im leaning toward a vintage Coronado right now)
  7. you know I mean a see through Fender GUITAR right, not laquer? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1972-FENDER-VINTAGE-LUCITE-PROTOTYPE-ELECTRIC-TELECASTER-STRAT-JAGUAR-GUITAR-/160857663305?pt=Guitar&hash=item2573dd2749
  8. Oh, and if you end up designing one, will you put the template up somewhere? that'd help a tonne! haha I cant get the thickness of the lines right. I tried tracing the logo from Kurts headstock onto 2d design tools, and then tried colouring it in photoshop. It didnt look as good as expected haha. where did you get the body from? Warmoth or somewhere? or is it one of those competition body blanks off of ebay that seem to be floating around a bit?
  9. out of curiosity, how much you letting it go for? and are you UK?
  10. on the Classic Player Jaguar Specials its listed as Polyester. Fender are pretty good with their specs, except about finishes. I think it would be cool if they listed every model they've ever made under some sort of 'discontinued' category. I thought Id seen everything until some see through beast popped up on ebay for zillions of pounds
  11. I get why people say 'do a kurt', but for me it takes me a while to understand since the first thing I think of when people flip guitars is Hendrix haha you in a band or anything?
  12. If it aint broke, dont fix it. its the 'industry standard' for a reason, the ds1 just works. metal, grunge, blues, just does it perfect. Plus theyre built like tanks, I've only ever broken 1 boss pedal, but that was only an input. Theyre like Hiscox cases, you could do anything to them and they'd survive. I guess if you're looking for another one the DS2 is the best move, but the BigMuff is a different ballpark completely. It really depends what you want from it. I use my DS2 live mostly as a 'solo' pedal to boost the signal a bit, or on some really loud songs we play, or covers because its a similar tone to the DS1 if you find the similar spots on the tone setting. However, if you want another different sound altogether, the BigMuff for sure. *as a side note, if you got the DS2, you'd never use the 'II' setting, it sucks for the majority of things. I think your concern about it sounding similar can only be sorted by side by side comparison, however, I personally believe that its more your rig than what you use. You could have a Big Muff into an AC30, and I bet I could make a very simlar sound with a DS1 and a Marshall, youve just gotta play around with the settings a bit. but hey, I can only help describe what theyre like, only you can make the choice
  13. I didnt even know they ever made these! haha quite clever craftsmanship too, definitaly something to keep hold of!
  14. oh, and what did you do about the neck? is it a refinished mustang neck? Im considering refinishing a spare neck if I decide to bite the bullet and get a KC mustang but I may age/ fade it a little. Yours looks awesome so far! lots of photos!
  15. welcome to my world! Ive been looking for a decal too! come to trying to make one on graphic software to sent to someone to make, but I cant get it quite right. as for pots, I dont really hear a difference in tone, and I went from 1meg on my jag (very sorta on-off without much of a sweep) then went to 250 (more volume i.e, doesnt really clean up whe turned down) and now Im on 500k which is pretty much the characteristics of a 250k being more volume orientated instead of cleaning up, but they give a nice mix between the sweep and the clean, if that makes sense? on a side note, earnie looks nothing like I imagined!
  16. haha true that. I always take everything apart and take photos and serials and keep them in a folder just incase. not a lot of valuable stuff would get taken, but sentimental stuff for sure. where did the original owner get that then if its original finish? its really awesome. japanese?
  17. I meant polyester! my bad, wrote the wrong word haha.
  18. I use it as a difference between PolyUrenthane and PolyStyrene like my jaguar haha. I though nitrocellulose too, but that wears down, and kurts is all chipped instead :/
  19. the KC ones are finished in Urethane. Anyone know what the vintage ones are finished in?
  20. wouldnt they age differently because of the laquers being different and stuff?
  21. I have a really old silver screw and a new(ish) one thats about 6/7 years old (dont know where from) but I prefer the newer one. I guess its hard to have a preference, you've just gotta feel out the sweet spots for your settings and your rig, so mines about 2o'clock for the modern and about 12-3 on the silver screw, but thats just what works best for me. either way, if he gets a DS2 or Big Muff, you're getting a quality pedal that are pretty much indestructable and you're gonna have to fiddle around with them a little. cant go wrong man!
  22. that thing looks amazing. Is it a refin? Id love to get like a black/red burst with the flame. You have loads of awesome stuff! dont be suprised if it goes missing sometime haha
  23. now I'm lost.. I get about the white fading to cream, I thought you meant like, the black/gold ones faded to cream. that blew my mind :L I think I'm gonna try make a design and send it to get made as a waterslide thing. And if I did get a KC mustang, the headstock would have to start the same colour and then Id have to age it/expose it to get a green tint. Could look cool

I think that may be done sometime too.
