  1. Cheers mate, helped a lot! I need to do some research on pots, I know people are always mentioning it, but I myself am not aware how they work or even what they are.
  2. Hey there guys, Im having a new PG for my jagstang and since Im changing it anyway, I was considering replacing my original neck pickup with a jaguar one, with the metal claws and stuff. Now, I never played a Jaguar myself, the reason Im thinking about it is only to try something different than a regular single coil. Now, for you guys that are the guitar experts, Id like to know: - is it a stupid mod? - what you guys think will be the tonal differences? - oh btw, can i just swap the pickup or there's something im missing? I think itll just take some routing... - can i still have the same wiring? - i was thinking of putting it angled, just like the original... Would it work? And finally, whats ur opinions? Any other considerations?
  3. I left my guitar at a luthier on Monday to have that jaguar chrome plate on the upper horn installed, and then mess with the switches a bit. Yours is gorgeous, I'll post mine when it's done.
  4. Hey, mine is one of the ones that say "Crafted in Japan" but with old serial number. There you go: O067951 This seems like a 93-94 serial number. Is it possible that my guitar is that old? Mine also has the very distinct quilted maple neck, just like redman's. So the consensus is that these are from 97, which would be original issue, right?
  5. Hey you guys, have anyone in here ever thought of putting the top chrome plate of the Jaguar in a Jagstang, and then adjust the pickguard? Would it fit, maybe? Anybody reckon it would look good?
  6. Yeah, I was thinking of going to a luthier tho, you know... put binding and inlays in the fender neck, don't wanna make it a frankenstein at this point, would rather get a new neck if it was a new project. Well if you haven't done this, I think nobody else in this board have LOL thanks, HNB.
  7. Straight to the point, has anybody here done this? I was thinking about it the other day, maybe it would look cool. Couldn't find any jagstang or mustang pics on the internet with block inlays and binding on the neck. You guys think it would look too odd?
  8. This is def my favorite, surf green + pearl red (my guitar, BTW):
  9. I noticed that as well, as that is the coolest one IMO... ain't that stupid?
  10. Dude, aren't Epi Sheratons the coolest arch top guitars ever, including Gibsons? I even prefer the Epi headstock over the Gibson one, but the entire Guitar, just looks amazing, I think the ES-3xx are just so boring. The Gretch models are kinda cool, but still, the proportion on the Sheraton is just perfect. Maybe that's because I watched too many Oasis performances when I was a kid.
  11. [2] My jazzmaster is setup pretty much like this.
  12. Can't say they are ugly, but what does it for me in the Jagstang is the Mustang-like pickguard. But nice designs nevertheless.
  13. The "kurtiest" thing you guys could do is get the cheapest wornest sunburst jag you can find and then try to make the mods yourselves. No luthiers, ur selves. You'll end up with something Kurt would be proud even more than buying his ultra expensive mock made by Fender.
  14. For what I read on http://www.kurtsequipment.com/ and by the pictures, it seems like the pickguard was a sort of swirl red pearl or something, not tort.
  15. Nice mate, thanks for the advice. Do you have a picture of you mustang? I'd love to see it, great fan of mustangs.
  16. woa thanks, man... thanks for the insight, I thought it was a red tort, mostly for red pearl being kind of unusual. I found these, at eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260782036620&category=41424&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_1273wt_976 Though they look kinda crispy in the pictures, I think I'd be fine with a pickguard made of that, what do you say?
  17. Hello guys! Anybody ever tried red pealoid pickguards? I've been struggling to find a red tortoise that's really red, like some old vintage mustangs, and I'm wondering if red pearl will look cool. This was my original inspiration: Is that even red tort really? Do you guys thing red pearl might look like that? If that's really red tort, it's the absolutely hardest one to find, couldn't find it anywhere, only on old offsets. I've seen so many pictures with so many different lights on tones of tortoise, I'm just looking for more opinions. Any will be highly appreciated!
  18. Dude, thing is fuzzes are complicated, at least from my experience... I have a big muff, it's my favorite pedal and it will sound different in each pickup / guitar / amp combination I use... everytime I have to set it up again to my taste and sometimes I may not get some sounds I had in a previous amp LOL that's just how it is. If you put more effects in the equation, it gets even worse, but that's what I like about them, otherwise I'd just get a Line 6 stomp modeler, or something like that.
  19. I thought about someone getting it refinished, but I am the second owner... I thought also about time changing the color somehow, but under the pickguard and pots metal plate everything is the same, so I guess we're left with someone at the factory messing with paint remains lol
  20. This is pretty tricky... mine is definitely a surf green, but when I got it I thought "hey it's only in sonic blue, maybe my eyes are deceiving me..." then I went to a shop to get a new pickguard, and then I asked the guy about the color, he said "it's surf green" and then I said, "you know, thing is it was never made in surf green, isn't it just a greeny sonic blue?" lol and the guy actually laughed at me saying it was obviously surf green, even grabbed a Fender color pie he had there. I think they might have made a few surf green.
