  1. As I don't really have the money to replace the stock pick-ups at the moment, I was wondering if I could beef up the tone of my JS with some fatter strings. I have no idea what's on there at the moment, other than the coil wound ones are getting corroded, so well overdue for replacement. What would everyone recommend, size wise and brand? I was thinking maybe 0.11s?
  2. Just tried to order one, and it says "will only fit Warmoth guitars, will ABSOLUTELY NOT FIT any other brand guitars". Er..?
  3. I've had my Jag-Stang for just over a year now, and I love playing it, but can't get the sound I want from it. I've tried three different amps, different gauge strings, effects pedals and tunings, but to me it still sounds jangly and high, without that Bleach-era muddy tone. It sounds like it would be more useful playing George Formby than Nirvana. So, I've arrived at replacing the stock pick-ups for something a little more hardcore. A friend has recommended http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/high-output/synyster_gates/ these from Seymour Duncan? Are they any good on a JS? And if so, can you recommend a single coil to partner it? Or should I go for a Hot Rail?
  4. Don't want to spend more than about £50 really. If I can get away with less, I will.
  5. Looking to get my first pedal, has to be a distortion so I can play along to my favourite Nirvana tunes. Was looking at a DS-1 for authenticity, but I head a DS-2 might be better? Also, a colleague is selling a Marshall Guv'nor like this: http://www.marshallamps.com/product.asp?productCode=Guvnor for only £25. Would that be better than a Boss? All will be played on a stock Jag-Stang through a Fender Frontman 15G amp.
  6. Looks nice. Did it come with the red scratchplate? Are you going to put black pickup covers on there?
  7. Cheers guys, I thought that might be the case. I didn't realise the Jaguar had the short neck as well - they look longer in photos!
  8. Since buying my Jag-Stang, er, yesterday, I've been really digging in to what makes it up. So far I've got: Mustang neck and headstock Mustang neck pickup Mustang bridge & tremolo system Mustang switches Mustang tone and volume dials Mustang-esque scratchplate Mustang jack The only thing Jaguar-y I can see is the shape of the top half of the body. What am I missing?
  9. Sorry to hear that. Hope everything is OK and you'll be back onto it soon - you've obviously got some talent!
  10. Why did you abandon the project? Looked like a good start...
  11. Yep. Not the best sound, but many bands I was in as a teenager did this.
  12. Just put a deposit down on this at my local music store. Wanted one since I first read about them when I was 13. Now I just have to learn how to play it!
