  1. Hi. I am planning on modding my Surf Green Squire vintage modified jaguar to have 2 4 wire humbuckers, a three way toggle switch, and a coil tap on the neck pickup, however I want to keep the rhythm circuit and low cut switch. (basically similar to a Kurt Cobain jag except only master volume and master tone, neck coil tap, and keeping the low cut switch) I'm 17 and I'm not very good with wiring, also jag wiring is especially confusing. Would anyone be able to help me figure out a wiring diagram for this, or at least help explain it to me? Are there any other mods I should try for this guitar?
  2. As my Squire VM Jaguar got stolen, I'm considering MIJ Traditional 60s or MIM Classic Player for upgrade, but I can't test a Japanese model. According to Japanese Fender website, MIJ stock model are having an ''U Shape'' neck, when most of the other Jaguar stock models like MIM Classic Player or American series are made with ''C Shape'' necks. MIJ Traditional 60s https://ibb.co/ffwxs6 MIM Classic Player https://ibb.co/byics6 American Vintage https://ibb.co/n0W8zm So does it mean MIJ Jag are having a thicker or bigger neck? As a player with sma
  3. Hey brothers and sisters, I have a new KC jaguar. I managed to change the humbuckers height (both) by accident when removing my scratchguard cover. Has anyone heard of the standard Fender settings for these? For example how much should I be able to measure (in MM if possible, sorry USA!) FROM the bottom of my strings to the pickups. Thanks so much! Simon
  4. Hi! I'm new to Jaguar, and I need some help. I've found Fender Jaguar special USA replacement pickups set for sale on a Polish site simmilar to craiglist. I'm not sure about authenticity of this pickups, and the fact that it's rather cheap makes me suspicious. Can anyone help me judge it's credibility just by the way it looks? Thank's a lot in advance!
  5. Hi, I stumbled across this one this morning and it's less than half the price of the new, but I really want a Jaguar. Can you spot anything suspicious that might say that it's fake? I wrote to Fender about it, but I thought to consult more people who are more experienced than me. To me it seems genuine and it contains the papers too, so it's unlikely to be stolen. Thanks, Bandi
  6. http://imgur.com/a/jT7LY i bought this Mustang look a like from some guy a few weeks ago but i wanna mod it already. the switches on the wing are not the mustang type wings. they are just on/off switches. i want to buy mustang switches to get the out of phase sound you get from mustang when you set it to that setting. the problem is that i dont know if it would work or if the mustang is built in a unique way to support the switches out of phase setting.
  7. Hey, I'm new to modding guitars and I'm getting a squier jaguar soon that I want to change up. The most common comment I see about the jaguar is that its rhythm circuit is only useful for certain things like the woman tone. I feel like the rhythm circuit would be so much more useful and versatile if you could switch between pickups while it was activated. This could allow for an outrageous amount of tones from one guitar, and my idea is putting in a Gibson-style three way toggle as part of the rhythm circuit, and keeping the lead circuit wired-up with the three selector-switches and the hi-pa
  8. I am new to this forum, but a long time fan of the Fender Jazzmaster. I love to chat about these guitars, and have a healthy understand of their history! I work at Chicago Music Exchange, and have a '65 Jazz that was refinished. Here is a photo: http://i.imgur.com/Qwvdw8k.jpg Thanks for letting me be a part of the discussion!
  9. The recent Fender newsletter kicks off a Jazzmaster campaign calling it the "Hero Of The Underground". With the many jazzmaster models available in 2015 is there one you prefer? [Fender Link] [jag-stang.com Blog Post]
  10. Thinking about putting in a set of EMG's in my blacktop special edition Jag. I don't know if they'll fit so please let me know.
  11. About a month ago I got my hands on a few knocks here and there Competition Stripe Mustang in Old Lake Placid Blue. I've read on some sites that Fender only had the Compo Stripes from 2002-2003 in the west or something like that. I've seen pictures of past auctions and shops selling the same guitar but I've seen some dated at 1999 and even 2004. First thing I would like to know is that how long this model of Mustang was in production for and have I managed to get myself a great find or even a collectors item?
  12. Decided to use my Tom Petty mimicing to actually cover a song haha didnt come out half bad. https://soundcloud.com/travisbishop-1/learning-to-fly-tom-petty
  13. Some new Fender Custom Shop models. Always a bit turned off on the prices of custom shop models... but they certainly look nice! http://www.fender.com/custom-shop/series/limited-edition/ Limited La Cabronita “Gato Gordo” Jaguar Limited Jazzmaster Pro Limited Custom Deluxe Jazzmaster
  14. So I just got my first Jaguar. I got a vintage modified squier one because I got it durring a big sale, have always wanted a jaguar, & plan on doing a lot of work to it to make it my own. I know I need to switch the tremolo system for a locking one and I guess get it all set up. Anything anyone on here would suggest to me to do it (other than the "don't get a squier" comment) to get it to the best jaguar it can be?
  15. Little vid for anyone who wants to check out the TM JM's sound, or remembers me and would like to hear some offbeat original jams. ha Rough draft as it stands, complete with mistakes, interlude has yet to be added, and adlibbed solo section. (Sue me) ;-P Junky (and nearly blown out) crate amp, Boss MD-2 and DD-7, in case anyone is curious. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XV66fDSfbFc Criticism welcome
  16. I'm in talks with a guy selling a left-handed Jaguar (finally, after months of me searching for one!) and I wanted to see if you guys could let me know to the best of your knowledge if I'm buying a real Jaguar and not a fake replica before I take the plunge! Here are a few pictures of the beauty: From the information I have about the guitar, it's a '63 re-issue, made in Japan in '94 and the serial number is: T011357. I've check the serial and it does check out, although serials are obviously easily faked. Everything looks good to me, but I'm not experienced when it comes to Jags
  17. Hey, I recently got a Jazzmaster and I was wondering if it was possible to use the Lower Switch Assembly instead of the toggle switch. I also thought about adding 2, 3-Way switches so that I can split the coils (I have two humbuckers), is it possible to add the coil-tapping switches? I've never really understood wiring diagrams so I could use some help. Thanks!
  18. Following is the ebay link, I am looking for a vintage mustang, and this guy lives kinda close to me. Just want to know if this is a fake or not. http://www.ebay.com/itm/120995165489 Thanks a lot for the help!!!
  19. well, I was flicking through some new pages of the Fender website and came across these, Squier JAGUARS http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/search.php/?partno=0302000500 there is also a Mustang that Squier are making too. As the owner of a Fender Jaguar (MIM) I've been thinking, what lies for the future of Jaguars? there doesnt seem to be much difference between lower end ones and the Squiers, lets face it, all the key features that people buy Jags for are there, so is it only a matter of time until Japs and Mexi's are phased out altogether? I'm not sure I like the idea of jaguars and mu
  20. SO! what have you done to change your gear? I've changed my trusty Squier Jagmaster (my workhorse, sunburst) to having tele style knobs, had to change all the internal wiring since I somehow managed to snap all of the wires, and replaced the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio Super Distortion (creme) and this has played at every show I've done, including places like Disneyland, The Cavern, the Royal Albert Hall..the list goes on, but even though its honestly abeaten up, cheap P.O.S, I love it to death and the tone from it is KILLER! I'm also getting my 62 RI Jaguar (CARed) modded a fair bit since
