Recommended Posts

Hey,

I have opportunity to buy this mustang competition:

404936205

Can you guys tell me what reissue is that? 65? 69?

Is there any difference from '69 reissue vintage white (beside the color)?

What do you recommend: this or '65 reissue?

Thanks a lot!

I'm no mustang expert, but the comp stripes never came in until 69, and the 65 reissue doesn't have contours, so it's a 69.

As for differences, i'll let one of the Mustang nerds fill you in on those!

So, colored heads are only in '73 reissues?

On the other hand orginal '69 competiton has red/blue/green/etc head...

They stopped matching headstocks in 71 apparently.

That guitar looks new, so been as though they are only making the 69's and the 65's now, i'd guess that it's a jap mustang with an added stripe.

...Just a japaneese Comp. Mustang Reissue. I think they were imported from 2002-2004.

they came in 2 colors blue and red. i orderd the blue one from Musicians Friend in '03 and it was only $495. i miss the days of cheap Mustangs....

i remember those some years back. they reissued them after testing the waters with the cyclone and tornado.

that buy it now price seems a little high to me, so check out the person's feedback for sure.

1200 doesnt seem high at all. for a good looking comp stang id say thats cheap. theyve gotten so expensive recently. do it if you have the cash.

I don't know if this link will work...but we are talking about CIJ Mustangs from the early 2000's right? you just need to look to japan for your comp needs.

check this one out then:

I don't use e-bay becouse of many duties and taxes I would have to pay (Central Europe = Third World :P ). What a shame...

A little offtopic:

3 days ago I wrote to Isibashi shop if they would ship guitar to me.

This is their answer:

Dear Mack,

This is Jo.

I know you like the Fender Japan guitar.

But Ishibashi can not sell it to foreign countries now.

So if you have some friends in Japan.

You can let some one to buy it instead of you in Japan, and ship it to you.

Good luck!

But please do not let any other persons know I give you this idea.

It is not good, so I give you this mail by another mail address.

Thank you!

lol

im near enough certain thats a '69 re-issue, but it might be a '73. some '69 re-issues have the competition stripes where others don't, but the only mustangs available now (new) are 65' (no stripe) 69' (some with stripes but not normally matching headstock) and the 73' (competition stripes and most if not all with matching headstocks, however ive never seen 1 without). if it is a vintage though, it would be post 1969.
