andrew00 0
Hey, So I was thinking that I'd upgrade the pickups in my mij leftie mustang to something more stable. The tone of the stock pickups is fine but I'd like something of better quality. Oh, and I also feel they're too loud in the treble, but I don't know if that's the pups of my setup! I was recommend to just swap in the 65 resissue pups but I thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions - as I said I don't want to massively change the tone, just give it a higher quality feel. Also - the stock pups have the cover on them so I don't know if they're staggered so if they are then putting in non staggered pups, upside down, will that affect things? And if so do people do leftie friendly pups?

Stock style Mustang pickups have level poles so lefty should work fine.

andrew00 0
Hehe it basically looks like this - http://www.guitarsandeffects.com/guitarimages2006/fender_mustang_texassp/daphne_mustang_cij_003.jpg - but left handed! I've been doing some pickup research and couldn't find a Lindy F email address to ask them for advice, which is weird, and as I'm in the UK it's not something I want to go call! One thing I'm noticing more than ever is that the stock pups the treble is louder than the bass bits, which may be due to setup, when I get the new pups I'm going to pay someone to do it and set the guitar up properly just in case but still. andrew00 0
Ok so I ended up talking to Curtis Novak who told me it'd cost $170 for a set of his pickups w/$40 delivery on top of that which comes to £130. I found it almost impossible to find replacement '65 Fender Mustang pickups for some reason in the UK, but on eBay I found some that are about $50 for a set with $16 delivery which comes to £40. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290565778550&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_1825wt_1095 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270749564219&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_1825wt_1095 So it's a toss up between then I think. What do y'all think I should go for? The current pups are weak and noisy & feedback easily so I'm keen for something stable and quiet. Is it worth it for the Novak's or just go with the '65 RI pups? I'm willing to spend the money if it's worth it, but if being the pertinent question.
stef_the_marmot 0
I've change my 'stang pickups for one pair of 65 'stang pickups handmade by pickup whizard, and then my st'ang is my best guitar, she's awesome!
