Early 00's Mustang Competition Stripe Reissue Rarity?

Recommended Posts

About a month ago I got my hands on a few knocks here and there Competition Stripe Mustang in Old Lake Placid Blue. I've read on some sites that Fender only had the Compo Stripes from 2002-2003 in the west or something like that. I've seen pictures of past auctions and shops selling the same guitar but I've seen some dated at 1999 and even 2004. First thing I would like to know is that how long this model of Mustang was in production for and have I managed to get myself a great find or even a collectors item?

Competition striped mustangs were originally made in the 60s-70s, but fender japan has been making them for quite a while. Generally you won't find them in the states unless you buy it from japan because fender doesn't import them.

I know both those facts lol, I'm just wondering if a early 00's Fender Mustang Reissue is something rare or even a collectors item since this type of guitar was sold to the western market and is different to what you can get in Japan at the moment.

they aren't any different, the difference is in japan you can get ones that aren't available here. they aren't that rare.

      Hi all

I’d  like to upgrade my Squier Mustang VM to the Fender Dynamic Vibrato unit, but can’t find any at a reasonable price online in the UK. Everything is imports with steep delivery costs, or vintage expensive ones that I’m not particularly interested in.

Anyone know of where to buy one, or an alternative brand as good as the original Fender?

      cheers

      Hey, everyone!
I'm new to this forum and one of the reasons why I joined in is because I recently traded up a Fender Mustang Player and got an American made that's supposed to be a '75 all original and it does look that way. But I can't seem to find that much info about it with the serial number so I was wondering if any of you could help me gather some bits of info about the specs like neck measurements, the pups it might come with and so on. The serial number is 621987 and it's on the neckplate right above the big "F" logo that I believe is from the CBS era. All I was told is that it's all original and that it was made in 1975 in Fullerton, USA.
I would very much appreciate your help and I'm very excited to share this new baby with all of you

Hello everyone thanks for reading. I recently came across a Mustang that is supposedly a 1982, but it's very difficult to find info on these years. Can anyone tell me some tell-tale signs? I have a few pics of it that I will attach.
Serial: R018034 . Theres conflicting info on this. According to a mustang history page, that means it's 1982, but according to a decoder, it's a 2004 reissue?
I can't figure out how to upload pics through here? So here's a link to the imgur gallery

If anyone can help, that'd be awesome and I'd really appreciate it.

Hi. I am planning on modding my Surf Green Squire vintage modified jaguar to have 2 4 wire humbuckers, a three way toggle switch, and a coil tap on the neck pickup, however I want to keep the rhythm circuit and low cut switch. (basically similar to a Kurt Cobain jag except only master volume and master tone, neck coil tap, and keeping the low cut switch) I'm 17 and I'm not very good with wiring, also jag wiring is especially confusing. Would anyone be able to help me figure out a wiring diagram for this, or at least help explain it to me? Are there any other mods I should try for this guitar?
