[AUCTION CLOSED] Cobain's Teen Spirit 1969 Fender Mustang To Be Auctioned

[UPDATED: The auction has closed with a sold price of $4,550,000. It was sold to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay to be added to his large collection of rare guitars.]

The Kurt Cobain 1969 Fender Competition Mustang (in Lake Placid Blue) will be going up for auction soon. This mustang is the iconic guitar featured prominently in the Smells Like Teen Spirit music video.

Via the juliensauctions press release (linked below) the guitar is expected to sell in the $600k to $800k range. It will be part of the MUSIC ICONS three-day auction event taking place on Friday, May 20th, Saturday, May 21st, and Sunday, May 22nd 2022 live at Hard Rock Cafe New York and online at juliensauctions.com.
