hi, 😀 I also have some problems with that japanese fender dating board.

i bought a new japanese jazzmaster few weeks ago with a serial Q0+5 digits.I can't surely tell if the digit after Q is a 0 or an O.(As i see the Q referes to the 93-94(Q+6dig) or to 02-04(Q+5dig). The guitar looks brand new (except some grey? dirt in some frets) and it has the decall Crafted in japan so i don't think it was made that long ago(93-94).But the serial isn't right for either the(02-04) period. It also has a matching headstock.

Does anybody know more about it?

Do you have pics? I have the same problem as you if I recall correctly (I'm not at home so I can't check) but My jag serial supposedly dates to '91 and is CIJ... which doesn't seem to work. It's black with matching headstock, the onle one I've ever seen in that scheme.
