I just bought a vintage 65 Mustang from a friend that needed cash. It was his baby for years and years, but it's really beat up. I think it's a refinish. It's red, but really worn. It's got a really worn neck too that looks like a vintage hammer! Very smooth, discolored, and buttery feeling. That means in my lingo, the neck is KILLER. But the deal is, the neck is seemingly straight, but the action is too high. From what I can tell, you can't adjust the action on these no? It needs to come down, otherwise it's not that easy to play. It's almost like where the neck meets the body that it needs shimmed a little or something because it's at it highest point there. It also kinda looks like the saddle piece is mounted to the entire stoptail piece section. There are no screws to lower or raise it from the tailpiece section. It's almost like where it's at is where it's at, and that worries me that I'll never be able to improve the action.

By the way, I'm not a novice player and have many killer guitars. I'm just not real super great at diagnosing certain potential problems off the bat. I'm asking you guys before I take it to my guy for a run thru. I can change my mind and give it back to my friend, if I feel that the problem isn't really all that fixable.
