FYI, The date on my neck is 16 JUL 66B I believe. The second 6 is kinda messed up, but I'm sure that is what it says.
Also in taking the neck off and holding the tuners still, when I tap on it, I think I do hear a rattle sound under the nut. Like it is the truss rod in there making that sound. I'm not keen on unscrewing the truss rod completely, because I don't know if it'll go back together! But it does appear to loosen and tighten, so I'm hopeful that it's ok and no big deal.
