i figured i would post these pics up
it is a banjo from around 1925-1937
it just needs a bit of tlc and restoration junk.
this a beauitiful birdseye maple back, solid piece of wood.
its warped tho, and there is nothing i can do for it, but oil it and try to stem it a bit,
birdseye is proned to warping.
here is another shot of it, btw its sounds amazing when i tapped it.
here is a shot of the neck, i had to remove a chunck of wood in order to replace it, if that makes any sense at all.
here is the new rosewood glued on.
the amazing thing is.
the fretboard is definitly rosewood, but its so old and so nasty that it appears to be ebony from the top but after cleaning it and looking at the sides long and hard it is defiintly rosewood.
and here are some random parts
it was definitly serviced by someone in the 50s.
the ony reason i say that is becuz of a few key things that have been replaced, like the tuners. they are plastic and don;t look like they belong and the skin is actualy a plastic resin style skin.
a few of the "tuners" for the head look newer as well.
its a great piece tho. its a claraphone, ever heard of the company?
