I play this guitar through an victoria 20112 and i don't use any pedals, i actually favor the sound of an crancked tube amp to any OD pedals. However in this particular setup, it sometimes feels like i need more output from the pickups to get in a more powerful distorted sound territory. Humbuckers aren't an option for our particular music wich i'd describe somewhere between neil young and sonic youth if that means anything.
P90s are the the ideal pickups for me as they have the right output and sound for single coils, and yes you are right they are wider than stock jaguar pickups.
superfuzz , thx for your advice i hear you there with the serious work required for routing, I was suspecting it might require mod to the body as well. How do those trisonics burns sound compared to p90s?
As for the SJM guitar, this is something i hadn't considered before to get an cheap new guitar and the idea is interesting, though having to carry 2 guitars sounds laborious to me. Are these the same as Agile guitars?, i heard they are quite good for the price and with the right mods (electronics,pickups..) they are supposed to be pretty decent guitars.
beneathedarkness , yes this something like this i am after cept that i'd also want one in the neck position. nice one! Did you do this yourself? i'm curious if there is some heavy work involved for such an mod.
