First off I would like to say hello to everyone. I have been lurking the forums for a little while but just now registered.

Anyways I just aquired a cyclone and I am wanting to mod it. How hard would it be to fit a single coil where the humbucker is on the bridge,what kind of single coils will give me a sound similar to that of the original mustangs and duosonics, and finally without a lot of modification to the body, can I use a three saddle bridge? Thanks for the help.

for the pick up you would need a new pickguard, no modifications to the body. the Seymour duncan mustang or duosonic pick ups at guitarpartsresource would be perfect. and im not sure if you can use the 3 saddle bridge. it has a strat trem so i think itd be hard

since I don't have yet I can't compare it to my strats, but I assume it has the same four bolt, bolt on neck. I have a crowned+leveled strat neck I want to install as well.

I think its short scale which means a Strat neck would not work right.

To fit a three saddle bridge you would have to either remove the trem/fill the cavity with timber then fit the new hardtail. Or you could look into fitting a hardtail Stratocaster bridge. (i dont know how/if this would without browsing)

It wont be a three saddle but six saddle bridges are more adjustable anyway.

getting a new guard made would be easy to do. the three saddle idea is.... not a good one, you are looking at an extreme amount of modification to your guitar for no real reason other than, "it looks cool" and it will inhibit your ability to be in-tune thru the neck.

the strat neck is also a no go, the cyclone is a 24.3/4 scale guitar, and a strat is a 25.5 making the conversion impossible

It would be better to order a custom 24.75" neck from http://www.usacustomguitars.com/ or

It won't be very cheap, but they are generally much better than the stock Squier necks. Haven't tried the Squier Cyclone though.

I've ordered one guard from pickguards.com and they did an excellent job. Flawless cutting and they delivered it to Sweden in less than a week. I've heard of people who had to wait a lot longer though (3-4 weeks). I guess it's worth mentioning that you are in a hurry 😉

If you tighten the screws that hold the trem springs on the back of the guitar it will set it to hard tail anyway.. just discard the arm.

a mustang neck is 24" same with a jaguar and most duo-sonics

unless you are looking at a musicmaster or duo-sonic from 57-61 or so, they are 22.5 scale.

so really the cyclone is the ONLY 24.3/4 scale neck that fender/squire has ever put out.

your choices are either get a custom neck made, or get a difference guitar.

I may just look into getting the neck crowned and leveled then, if it even really needs a neck. The guy I bought it from said it had a "problem" with neck so I guess I'll start with a good setup and inspect everything very closely.

probly just the truss rod,

i have had people bring stuff to me before and say, " man there is something wrong with the neck, its warped, you gotta make me a new one, and my guitar tech said it was broken..."

but its always just the truss rod.

i always wonder about the "tech" they take it to.

Well finally sat down and checked everything out on it. Some of the soldering needed to be redone,truss was adjusted, and the guitar was setup. After all the work I am selling it now ☹

Hate to re-ignite an old topic, but I just found out these guitars existed a few minutes ago. Does anyone know how much they are worth these days?

There is one on ebay (only one) that is going for USD$199. This seems quite reasonable to me...

edit: seems that there is a store in Melbourne that can order them in for AUD$470. Bearing in mind I recently paid AUD$459 for my Jagmaster...

We pay lots here in Oz. I got a price on a Squier Duo-Sonic, and I was told AUD$650. $100 more and I can buy a CIJ Mustang!

I'm going to try and keep my eyes open for a used Squier Cyclone. I'm in no hurry...

Yeah, the black one on ebay for $199 is a good deal. i think this is the 2nd or maybe 3rd time ive seen a black one, most of the ones ive seen were that midnight blue color, i had one, it wasnt a bad guitar, i eventually gave it away.
