There's no way i'm putting a backplate on it. It would look unprofessional. can someone post me a pic of the uderside of a tremelo so I can get some idea of how deep it is? otherwise I may have to buy one just to see how it will fit.

Mustangs and MOST Squiers are 3.5cm thick, I know that for sure. But some others are saying that the Jaguars are thicker and that the trem plat needs a route 3.5cm thick to operate. The body Sanchez is making for me (based on the shape of a Jag-stang but with straight bucker, jaguar trem and contours) is 3.5cm thick. This is the problem Augustus, don't know if I can make it any clearer.

Other than the post length, what is the difference between a Jag trem plate and a Mustang trem plate?

it's not the post length that's different, it's the depth of the route required for the trem.

no, the jazzmaster body is 4.5cm thick.

full trem move movement will require the full depth route. for less movement the route will not need to be as deep, but seeing as the trem doesn't move that far anyway you will be constantly hitting the bottom of the route. i don't know the depth of the trem in it's "up" position, but the route can be much shallower if you don't want to put an arm in and you never want to use the trem.

Alrite. Well I'll give it a shot, i still want to gather from a few sources the trem depth. I'm not too bothered bout the trem movement, I only use trem for a tinny bit of vibrato and small dips so if i dont get much movement no big deal.

Does sanchez even have the trem plate yet? Seems to me, this whole process would be alot easier if he did...

My JM trem hits the bottom of the route frequently, and I don't divebomb at all.

the whole process is extremely simple. the chosen bridge will not work with the chosen body thickness.

I don't see what's unprofesional about a backplate, plenty of guitars have them.
