To use a specific example, when I hear that riff from Dire Straits 'Money for Nothing', I KNOW that is a Les Paul.
All I can do is express my opinion, and to me, no guitar squarks like a Les Paul.
As far as a Flying V goes, I don't know one when I hear it, but what I do know is that I am not hearing a Les Paul.
