Right, having just started a fairly well-paying job, and seeing that a lot of people on this forum have already undertaken guitar-building projects, I've been pushed into starting my own by the very convenient timing of a custom reissue body and neck place opening up quite locally.
So I've put some thought into what I would want, and can't decide between 2 different builds:
- Telecaster, Lake Placid Blue, rosewood fretboard, vintage frets, block inlays, cream neck binding, SD Antiquity P90 in the neck, Bare Knuckle Piledriver in the bridge, 4-way switch for the option of both pickups in series, mint pickguard, vintage bridge with Graphtech Steel Stringsaver saddles, Kluson tuners.
- Stratocaster, Sonic Blue, matching headstock, rosewood fretboard, chunky U-shaped neck, vintage frets, dot inlays, cream neck binding, SD Antiquity 2 neck and middle pickups, Bare Knuckle Black Dog humbucker in bridge (aged nickel cover, coil-tap via push/pull volume pot), mint pickguard, black knobs, vintage trem bridge with Graphtech Steel Stringsaver saddles, Kluson tuners.
Both would be lightly relic'd. I'm in a position to do this because the place I'm getting the body and neck from deal only in proper thin nitro finishes. I'm also toying with the possibility of a Jazzmaster build, but this would need Warmoth parts which would be thick plastic finishes and a much larger shipping cost.
Thoughts...?
