Yeah maybe so, he went out and bought a few of them when Rated R went big. Before that he only had the one in C, he has like about 4 or five now with different tunings.
Just imagine it, your Gibson scale guitar is in C for 20 years, low tension, not much stress on the neck, and the wood gets used to the feeling, then all of a sudden you're tuning it up 2 whole steps and cranking the truss rod to compensate for the monster tension it's never had to deal with.
Would you do that to a guitar worth more than $5000?
I wouldn't do that to a cheap ass instrument nevermind a guitar like that where only about 400 were made.
It might have been able to take it, they were extremely well made, but it's a risk i wouldn't take.
