The Bass VI was created both as a "6-string bass" and a "baritone guitar". It's a little twangier than a normal bass, but too long scaled and tuned too low to be considered a standard guitar.
The post 62' Design is basically a Jaguar sans the rhythm circuit and with a middle pickup and a longer scale. Before that it had Strat pickups with metal encasements around the sides, and did not have a string mute or the thin switch.
It's tuned a full octave down, though I think B would be possible on standard guitar strings assuming they are long enough.
