tylerfender whats the red stuff in the pup cavity? whats it made of? What does it do? How do i get some?http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7 ... aNWzdy0at8
tragictravisty rf sheilding. that stuffs copper. it reduces the hiss/hum. your guitar should have some form of rf shielding
nirvana23freak most fender jap guitars have black shielding paint which practically does the same thing, but you can get some of the copper stuff from stewmac
tragictravisty Mustang-Pete said: if it's a reissue Mustang then it will have, as mine does 😛itll have which?
tylerfender well mines a custom jagstang so mine dont have it, but i'm planning on getting some real soon cuz i'm redoing my jagstang, new paint job, new pups, new neck, and copper shielding.

AnotherTool If you use the tape, most people solder all the joins so you have no breaks in the shielding whatsoever.

tylerfender what would be better to use? copper or aluminum? ebay has em both and i dont know which is better or what the difference is if there is one.
tragictravisty copper would seem to cundoct better since its used in wiring. but if youre using aluminum why the hell wouldnt you glue some aluminum foil in there?
tylerfender thats what i thought! if people sell aluminum foil on ebay to get rid of buzz, just go in the kitchen and get some! save your money
tragictravisty no clue. try google. i would assume that if other forms of aluminum would, yea. id problably do two sheets to thicken it up. and not glue it in or anything permanent. its not like its gonna hurt anything. put everything together before shielding, and see how much it hisses. then try aluminum foil. whats the worst that could happen?
