I could write a book on this, so Here's my minimal take...
1.) A guitar is a guitar is a guitar - what you play on it is your choice
2.) Most of the segmentation/genre bull#### is due to corporate destructive marketing
3.) Most guitarists pick what appeals to them in looks, that's what drew me to the Jag firstly
4.) One mans beer is another's poison, some guys hate single coils, some prefer them, and some don't care as long as it works
5.) Puritans suck, being stuck in a rut for the sake of "tradition" stifles creativity
As for why I play a Jaguar
1.) The sound works for me perfectly, I've never found a tune I could not use a Jaguar on
2.) The body is the most comfortable I've had
3.) Not a single neck doesn't agree with me, and they don't need low action to play fast comfortably due to the thin width
4.) The trem/bridge setup allows for a lot of interesting noises/sounds (3rd bridge, vibramute, etc...)
5.) The electronics are very versatile, I can make more extreme changes in tone during a song than with most of my other guitars
6.) It looks cool
