Which Jag would you choose?

I want a Jaguar.

I'm in the UK.

No idea which one though... I suppose I need some help ascertaining what I actually want from a guitar.

62 Japanese Reissue? example

Jaguar HH? example

Classic Player Jaguar HH? example

Most of the songs I play are quite dynamic in nature, there's lots of changes in volume/style. I need something that sounds equally as good when playing a clean/reverby tone as well as full on riot distortion. I've just bought a Boss GT-10 so that'll take care of most of the changes.

I love the looks of the Jaguar but would consider others if they would suit better..

depends on if you want the jag trem. the jaguar HH doesnt have the jag trem so no bar action or anything...and also depends if you want humbuckers or singles..i'd go with either the 62 jag reissue or the new MIM classic player jaguar HH 😉 although the jag HH isnt a bad guitar...

I'm not a massive user of the trem at the minute, who's to say that won't change though so I'd probably like the option in the future. We all go through musical phases, I'm sure. I'm not playing any solo stuff at the minute, it's mostly intricate little riffs and powerchords.

As far as pickups go, they both sound good but would humbuckers provide that extra flexibility I'm after?

It seems like the only new HH you can get hold of is black with the chrome hardware. I'd say that was my least favourite look. The three colour sunburst is beautiful as is the olympic white.

Have you seen Redburst? It's -bleep-ing gorgeous. I can't find one for love nor money though.

the humbuckers give you alot more power, more of a ballsy sound than singles..gives it more tone.

YES. This is the exact one I have and it is awesome. I agree that the black-and-chrome HH has no style. The splittable humbuckers allow for lots of tone options, although the two thumb sliders are in my opinion really annoying and slow to operate, virtually impossible to do mid-tune. I would absolutely recommend this one though.

I think that model is easily the best bet for someone undecided.

The reasons:

1/ If you split coil it you have humbuckers and Singles

2/ Its still classic looking

3/ It has a TOM which means you wont go through the misery of every other Jag user for the first month or so.

4/ The trem has been slightly moved forward to presumably get rid of any need for a buzzstop.

Ditto!

I own one of these and the coil split really comes in handy. Single coil tone for what I prefer personally, and the warm fat humbucker sound is great for when I play in jazz band.

Some cracking input so far folks...

Having not played enough Jaguars or guitars myself to have enough of an informed idea, your opinions are infinitely useful.

I'll document the buying process, first impressions and hopefully put up a few sound clips of it in action when my plan comes to fruition.

Go with the classic players. It's a little more expensive than the HH b ut it's well worth it. Plus Idk the prices in UK.

They are not gimmicks. I have one of the CP Jags and I love it. Granted, I have not played the CP Jazz, but it seems solid as well.

I think the Mascis sig model was the test balloon for these, so they are close in quality to that one.

those are p-90s arent they? i dont know too much about pickups but some guy on here said that they couldnt be just hotter and with adjustable pole pieces with the magnets of the original.
