Which Jag would you choose?

Quick update;

I've managed to find the Classic Player Special HH in Olympic White online. It's just a matter of typing in my card number and waiting for it to arrive.

I refuse to get my hopes up, though. The Boss GT-10 I ordered (not from the same place) recently managed to arrive without a power supply so my confidence in internet retailers is low at the minute.

I need to consider accessories as well; Stand, Strap (+locking nut for strap), Spare Strings and Care Products... any suggestions for these would also be appreciated!

Anything else I should be thinking about?

for stand just get anyone. strap- i use ernie balls. there comfortable and thin and not expensive. for strap locks i use schallers, i like them. strings i use GHS. and care products, none really. maybe some of the spray that cleans it.

It 'feels' better than it looks... The body is a bit heavier than I expected it to be; that adds to to the perception of 'solid' and 'well made'.

First of all, the company I bought it from couldn't have been any better. It arrived well packaged, in tune and the intonation was perfect. I thought they'd forgotten the trem arm but it was stashed away in one of the pockets of the gig bag. If anyone's in the UK and looking for a Jag I'd heartily recommend Merchant City Music.

I've only had a few chances to play with it, and all my experiences are through my effects unit and headphones... so I suppose the beast has yet to be unleashed. I'm 111% impressed though, not that I had a great deal of quality to compare it to. Up until now I've been using my cousins Westfield Strat Copy. The Jag annihilates it.

I've uploaded a couple of .mp3s for you to to judge the sound for yourself. Bear in mind there are multiple timing issues, problems with the levels and plenty of such other nonsense. These were exclusively created with the Jag. All other noises are effects.

Time is a bit of an issue so I'll just add one for now...

the slightly sinister reminds me of mogwai circa come on die young (1999)

clean/dist on clean reminds me of luna for some reason....

if the aforementioned are influences on your playing...good choices.

what kind of distortion is that? it's not a fab-tone by danelectro is it? (or am i dense and is it a rat, hence la ratta?)

They're both bands I like the sound of but I wouldn't say they are direct influences. Being from Scotland, I probably share more cultural influences with Mogwai than musical ones.

I spent the late 90's/Early 00's in Glasgow at Uni so that's probably why there's a similarity. Around about that time I was listening to bands like Idlewild and Biffy Clyro as well as lesser known bands such as Seafood, Aereogramme and Stapleton. Since then I've probably taken a step back from the chaotic and grown into the melodic/progressive. Everyone still likes to rock a bit.

I've always had a fondness for intelligent/emotive lyrics and obviously without the vocals that doesn't come through. After five years out of the music scene I'm not confident enough to be posting mine just yet, especially with my extremely rusty singing voice.

The distortion is the Rat simulator with the 'Pro Crunch' preamp from within the Boss GT-10. The Compressor/EQ/Reverb/Delay have been tweaked a little too. You have a good ear on you, sir.

i have always been more talented at the engineering side than the actual playing side...that is why i always try to guess effects.

either way....i like the sound of the HH....so may have to look into one of those myself (i bought a sc version not too long ago and am happy with it...but as a poorly recovering gear geek...there is never enough).
