Like Marshall distortion sounds barfy to me as does the the boss metalzone. Something about those kinds of distortion just sound fake to me, as if you're playing a toy guitar or a synthesizer.
Ummm... did you read what you just wrote?
How many marshalls have you played through, and which models specifically were they?
If you were playing one of their hybrid amps that are on a par with Vox's Valvetronix line then maybe I can understand you thinking the Vox has the better distortion. But any all tube Marshall will sound worlds different from any hybrid amp, and isn't even remotely comparable to a cheaply made mass produced distortion pedal.
I'm beginning to doubt your experience with amps. You're telling me you would really prefer the distortion tones of a Vox Valvetronix amp modelling distortion that uses minimal tube circuitry in it's construction to an all tube Vintage Marshall? And further are you really suggesting that the distortion you've heard from cranked Marshall actually sounds like the distortion you've heard from a Boss Metalzone?
I will admit I don't like Marshalls that well either, but they sound much better then the Vox Valvetronix series, and are definitely nothing like a Boss Metal Zone distortion pedal.
Yes everyone is entitled to their opinions, but that does not mean we have to respect, agree with, or believe someone else's opinion simply because they have a right to having one. It also does not mean their opinion is right simply because they have a right in having one.
