A lot of sellers will not do that as if it got lost or broken then that is the max they can claim for from insurance. Another dodge for uk customs is to mark it as a gift, that will work from a normal seller but not from a shop.

I would only be going for a Mustang, almost definitely a re-issue, and will probably be putting my guitar-only budget at about $800. Save up about $1,100, enough to pay for any costs, levies, surprises, and setup that I might need.

Can I ask what guitar you bought, where it came from, and how much it was (both before and after 'extra' expenses)?

This is the guitar I bought here. Its a 69 RI MIJ Mustang.

Guitar was US$535

Shipping was US$95 (from Tokyo to Perth took 3 days!)

DHL quarantine inspection fee AU$50

TOTAL: just under AU$700.

That shop always has some nice Fenders (Jaguars, Jazzys, Fender basses..etc)

Looks like a good deal and a good score, very nice guitar, I like the odd colour of the yellow.

If I could get a Mustang for $700 that would be awesome, I'll have to keep a look out to see if opportunity knocks.

Are you happy with the guitar, how is it working out?
